RE: New Purchase

We have loved both of our Crossroads Cruisers...we feel the quality is great for the price range...they also offer 2-year warranty vs. 1-year many other brands offer (Jayco also offers 2-year)....www.crossroadsrv.com

RE: Smaller 5th Wheel Recommendations

Since you asked for specific recommendations, we have loved both of our Crossroads Cruisers....the Cruiser CF25RB has bunks and is 27'3...they also have the Zinger ZF25BH which is the same floorplan with a few less features and is 27'2. Their website is www.crossroadsrv.com

RE: Lake Lanier COE campgrounds

Also, at Old Federal #61 is a great site....Right by the bathroom and has a nice beach in front of campsite. The only bad experience we had here was some folks walking through our campsite all weekend going to the bathroom..but that has only happened once. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/OldFederal016.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/OldFed004.jpg

RE: Lake Lanier COE campgrounds

I have been to them all and can tell you the best one with the best views of Lake Lanier is Old Federal...our next favorite is Shoal Creek and also Bald Ridge is very nice. Old Federal is probably the most popular and very hard to get into without reservations. Actually, in the summer they are all hard to get into without reservations. As far as site #'s, at Old Federal our favorite is 69 and 70 because of the views but not good sites if you have a boat or want to swim (rock wall)...really, most sites are good there, especially all the ones on this loop. Shoal Creek our favorite is #60, great for boat access and swimming. Some of the sites at Shoal Creek are tighter. It is a more wooded campground. Not familiar enough with site #s at Bald Ridge, but is a super nice campground and camp pads seem in better shape than Shoal Creek. Here is a few pictures...the first two are #69 and #70 at Old Federal....the next two are #60 at Shoal Creek...the last one is of the fantastic sunsets from these sites at Old Federal...Also, here is a website, scroll down, pick park and you can look at a picture of each campsite (Chestnut Ridge is closed)..sorry, don't know how to make a clickable link to website...the water is VERY low right now and expected to get worse. These pics. were when the lake was much more full. http://lanier.sam.usace.army.mil/MapRoom.htm#Campgrounds http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/LaborDay2007011.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/OldFedOctober032.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/ShoalCreek015.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/NRRS_1417_060.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/OldFedOctober003.jpg

RE: Old Federal COE

They have some 50 amp. sites at Old Federal I do believe. May just want to call the park. We camp there all the time. Our favorite campground.

RE: Cleaning rubber roofs

I have read numerous recommendations that spic-n-span does a great job....thinking of trying that out tomorrow.

RE: The wife's first solo trip

I wish I could do it...but I know myself, I would cause some serious damage:E...guess I'll leave the camper towing to him.

RE: Which is Best Ft.McAllister/Skidaway Is?

I honestly feel they are equally nice....either one will be a good pick and you can make a day trip to the other. We enjoy the fort at Ft. McAllister.

RE: North Georgia State Parks Full hookups?

Especially Old Federal -- beautiful place. Old Federal is our favorite campground...and we're lucky to have it 9 miles from home....Very hard to get into without reservations though, especially in the summer.

RE: North Georgia State Parks Full hookups?

Although the original poster didn't say he wanted to be in the Georgia Mountains, when I hear "North Georgia", I automatically think the "mountains"....Hart State Park is somewhat north, but certainly not in a real mountainous area....more hilly....it's a fairly nice park, but what I consider the mountains, I don't believe any of those State Parks have sewer hook-ups but I'm not 100% sure. The only GA State Park we have been in with sewer at all sites was Florence Marina State Park...certainly not in the mountains though.

RE: SE Georgia's coast, from Savannah to Crooked River,CG?

Our favorite place on the GA Coast is Jekyll Island.....our next favorite would be Crooked River State Park in St. Mary's....also enjoy very much Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill, GA and Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah...but again, Jekyll is the favorite.

RE: Considering a Crossroads Kingston (5th wheel)

We are on our second Crossroads(Cruiser)..first a TT and now a 5'er. We have been very happy with both units and have had no major problems with either. We would buy another Crossroads product in a heartbeat.

RE: Buford Ga. campground

Shoal Creek and Old Federal are the best...but hard to get in on a weekend without a reservation. Lake Lanier Islands campground isn't nearly as nice(not a COE park) but they have a LOT of campsites so you may have to opt. for that....but we love Shoal Creek and Old Federal very much.

RE: Devils Fork St Park, SC

I have to disagree. We LOVE Devils Fork and have enjoyed the campground both times we have been and will surely return. Here is a couple of pictures to give a general idea of the spacing. Although it isn't really big-rig friendly, we got our 31 ft. 5'er in and out with zero problems. We love the whole area and highly recommend a drive to Caesars Head Gap on a clear day...beautiful..here's a picture of that as well. We can't wait to go back. Lake Jocassee is beautiful !! (Water was a little low in this picture). We also enjoyed visiting Table Rock State Park. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/006_6.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/005_5.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/ThisViewIsAWESOME.jpg http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/jgrving/BlueSkiesinSalem-1.jpg

RE: Rear kitchens, pros/cons

We love our rear-kitchen and we have a giant picture window in the living room on the side right where we want it. We have a ton of counterspace and have never had anything really out of place after traveling....everything is right where it should be. We have shocks on our 5'er.
